Troop 560 Annual Events & Activities

This plan represents a typical annual schedule of monthly camping activities (and other specific annual activities, such as fundraisers) for Troop 560. The troop assembles at 5:30 pm Friday night and departs for the weekend, returning Sunday afternoon. Some events involve late night arrival, backpacking to the campsite, and camp set up in the dark.

January	Webelos Welcomed Weekend	Cabin Camping, sledding if it snows. Has been held at camp Falling Rock and at Mt. Gilead.
February	Ski trip	The annual ski trip may fall in February or March
March	Pioneering Campout (Rope-work)	Primitive outdoor camping, building things with rope, First Class Scout knots covered.
Spring Fundraiser March - May	Flower Sales	Take orders for flowers delivered before Mothers Day
April	"Ramp Romp" Backpacking	Beginner/Intermediate Backpacking	2010
May	Gary's Eagles Campout & Iron Chef Competition	This campout is to introduce new troop members to camping and the patrol method. Family members are invited to spend Saturday afternoon with the troop enjoying the cooking competition.

June Special Event	Fishing Has No Boundaries at Buckeye Boat Club	Help Set up tents Friday evening 7:00 pm, help people with disabilities enjoy a day of fishing/boating Saturday 8:00 am. Applicable to the Disabilities Awareness merit badge.
July	Summer Camp: Offering both High Adventure and BSA Council Camping	Locations vary, see Summer Camp under the Troop Info tab
August	Paddles & Peddles (a.k.a. Water & Wheels Weekend)	Morrow, Ohio. Canoeing all day Saturday & 30 mile by bike Sunday from Morrow to Xenia.
August	Troop Kickoff	Family picnic at heritage park, Westerville. All families should attend.
September	Orienteering & Rappelling	Orienteering & rappelling activities, usually at camp Falling Rock	2008
October	Fall Backpacking	Red River Gorge, Kanawa Trace, or similar experience	2007 2005
Fall Fundraiser September - October	Pumpkin Patch	A unique Boy Scout fundraiser
November	Wilderness Survival Weekend	Make your own Shelter to sleep in.	2009 2008 2005
December	Feaste at Camp Lazarus	Possibly the best holiday meal you will have. Cabin camping and kitchen cooking. Turkey slow-roasted outside.
